Since 1981, Les Cultures de chez nous has grown vegetables and
small fruits in the
Centre-du-Québec
region using environmentally favorable farming techniques.
As a result of our energy and the quality of ours products, our
farm ranks, as the main supplier of asparagus and leeks for
grocery stores in the province of Québec.

We are one of the major leek growers in
Québec. Hundred acres are dedicated to this cultivation
representing 4,700,000 leeks a year.
Our leeks are available in these packages :
 |
12-unit package (sold per unit in
supermarkets or in packages during the fall specials) ; |
 |
6-unit package (sold per unit in
supermarkets or in packages during the fall specials); |
 |
12 x 3 unit boxes. |
| Our leeks are separately washed and prepared.
They are cooled promptly after packaging to ensure best
preserving conditions. It is possible to add a bar code or a PLU
when leeks are marketed in packages. The delivery is done in
refrigerated trucks upon request.
(*) Our ''12 x 3'' are wrapped in a microporous plastic film
which controls the evaporation of moisture and naturally
increase the storage life of the product. The plastic film also
enables us to put a printed text highlighting the virtues of the
leek and presenting several recipe ideas. |

Les
Cultures de chez nous offers sliced leeks, which is a product
containing no preservatives. The retail bag contains
two medium-sized leeks.
Because our
microporous packaging effectively controls the evaporation
of moisture from the product, our sliced leeks can be stored up
to 14 days in the refrigerator.

We have imported and marketed European leeks
since the winter of 2000. Even though they are similar in terms of
quality, European leeks are very different from those cultivated
in Québec. Their scape (white part of the leek) is longer, their
width is smaller and they have a sweeter taste. During the winter
season, they are easily distinguished on our supermarket shelves
by their incredible quality. Leek importation allows our company
to commercialize sliced leeks all year long.

In addition to their attractive packaging, Leeks Mignon
offer a number of distinct advantages :
 |
Maximization of edible product.
|
 |
More aesthetic presentation.
|
 |
Better handling and storage qualities in :
- Refrigerated counters
- Grocery bags
- Domestic refrigerators
|
 |
Increased shelf life (28 days), hence less loss to the retailer.

On top of producing 50 000 pounds of asparagus yearly, Les
Cultures de chez nous ensures the marketing and packaging for
close to a dozen asparagus growers in the Mauricie and
Centre-du-Québec region. We market 450 000 pounds of asparagus each year, consequently making us
the biggest asparagus supplier in the province of Québec.
Our asparagus is available in the following packages and sizes:
 |
No. 1, in 20 lb. containers (9.07 kg).
This is the category usually found in supermarkets; |
 |
No. 2 (half-open tips); |
 |
Small (5 mm to 10 mm diameter); |
 |
Tips (15 cm length). |
To render handling easier, the asparagus bunch is tied up twice. A
bar code or a PLU can later be added. In addition, we now offer
asparagus wrapped in microporous packages which prevents damage
during handling, is also more hygienic, and allows a longer
preserving period.
Deliveries are ensured by refrigerated trucks upon request (during the
peak season, daily deliveries to Montréal and Québec).
